About Us

The Zonta Club of Melbourne was chartered on December 1, 1983. Melbourne's Zontians opened their ears and hearts to the needs of our community to form a group of strong women who would empower other women in our community. This caring attitude is reflected by focusing on advancing the status of women by providing service and educational opportunities. Members attend meetings monthly to coordinate community projects and fund raising activities.

The Melbourne Zonta Club is a member of Zonta International, a global organization of male and female executives and professionals who work together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy.

Objectives

  • To improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women at the global and local level through service and advocacy.
  • To work for the advancement of understanding, goodwill and peace through a world wide fellowship of executives in business and the professions.
  • To promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
  • To be united internationally to foster high ethical standards to implement service programs and to provide mutual support and fellowship for members who serve their communities, their nations and the universe.
