Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Denise Boehm, owner of Massage by Denise of Melbourne, proudly announces the addition of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) treatments to her practice.  In February 2016, Denise completed extensive training in the Vodder technique and was awarded the designation of Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist (MLD/C).  She now offers MLD as a service to her clients in Brevard County, Florida.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a light-touch therapy that uses gentle rhythmic stimulation to increase the normal rate of lymph flow.  This promotes toxin drainage and tissue regeneration.  The MLD technique can be used to correct localized lymphedema, a condition commonly found in patients who have swelling of an arm after mastectomy with lymph node dissection.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage aims to eliminate bacteria, toxins, viruses, wastes and excess water, and addresses blocks in lymphatic circulation, which may cause congestion and peripheral edema.  MLD is an ideal therapy for detoxification of the entire body; reducing pain signals, reducing fluid retention and edemas; accelerating healing; and minimizing bruising and scarring.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage was developed in France in the 1930s by Danish physical therapist Dr. E Vodder.  The technique consists of various manipulations, which stimulate the lymphatic drainage of various organs and tissues, boosting the immune system.  MLD can help support individuals who suffer from Cancer, the effects of cancer surgeries, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Migraines, Inflammation, Tinnitus, and many more debilitating conditions.
