Banana River Sail and Power Squadron Congratulates Twenty-six (26) New Members of the Safe Boating Community.

The Education Department of the Banana River Sail and Power Squadron congratulates the newest safe boaters in our area.  Twenty-six students, age 11 to 17 years of age, successfully completed a Junior Safe Boating Class on June 8.  These students meet in class three days to receive boating instruction from over six veteran, certified marine instructors.  The class finished the last day with a 75-question test challenging their boating knowledge.  Minimum passing score on this test is 80%.

Passing the test enabled each student to receive the Florida Safety Education Card, meeting the Florida State standards allowing the student to legally operate a boat in Florida waters.  Anyone born after January 1, 1988 must earn this card prior to operating a vessel in Florida.
