Chamber Announces 28th Annual Business Champion of the Year Award Winners

The Business Recognition Committee (BRC) of the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce presented its Business Champion of the Year Awards to five area companies at its 28th Annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 9, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront.

The winners are:

Start-Up Business Champion: Fit for Life Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine;

 Small Business Champion: Zeeke & Associates, Inc.;

 Medium Business Champion: Community Credit Union;

 Large Business Champion: Florida Community Bank;

 Non-Profit Business Champion: Brevard Humane Society.

Over 200 chamber partners, their families and friends regaled in the event’s theme, Celebrating Success. Emcees of the evening were BRC Co-Chairs, Joe Janson, Dale Sorensen Real Estate and Tom Vani, Vani & Associates.

The Keynote speaker was Lynda Weatherman, President & CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast, who also received a special honor as the Chamber’s “Champion of Business” for her 22 years of dedicated service to economic development in the county. All nominees for the awards were recognized.  Representatives of the banquet’s major sponsors made presentations to the winners.

“It took a lot of hard work by several dedicated people to not only organize the awards ceremony, but to compile the nominations, evaluate the entries and make the difficult determination as to which companies would receive the honor of ‘Business Champion of the Year,’” said Janson & Vani, BRC Co-Chairs. “In light of the outstanding organizations that were nominated, choosing only one per category was not easy for our judges; they were all winners.”

Sponsors of the event included: Waste Management, Artemis, Florida Institute of Technology, Eastern Florida State College, Florida Today, Hometown News, AT&T, Community Bank of the South, Wuesthoff Health System, Re/Max Absolute Service Team, Grimaldi Candy Company, Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, Progressive Document Destruction and Bobbi’s at Parkside.
