Murals in Downtown Melbourne

Mural Paintings have begun in Downtown Melbourne

Be careful driving in through the entrance of Downtown Melbourne, you might be distracted by the vintage car themed mural being painted on Lou's Filing Station, located at 411 E New Haven. This mural, being completed by Eric Wood, is the first of several murals set to take place throughout Downtown over the next month.

"Public art is an essential component of a downtown community and is key for driving economic growth," said Jarin Eisenberg,  Executive Director of  Melbourne Main Street; the non-profit organization that is facilitating the project.

"Our mission  is to revitalize Downtown Melbourne. Art runs deep in Downtown and the support from local artists and interest from the community makes it clear this is the right project for Downtown," said Eisenberg.

Richard's Paint is the official paint sponsor for the Melbourne Mural Project. "Richard's understands the importance of engaging the creative sector, not to mention they have the perfect product and expertise for this project" said Eisenberg.

Melbourne Main Street is still looking for sponsors and support. "Each mural will have a plaque that recognizes the artist and sponsor. This project is about investing an in area that is the heart of the Melbourne community and is key for attracting and retaining talent that will take this county to the next level" said Eisenberg.
