Live Your Best Life

Top 4 Tips for getting proper nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle.

  1. Drink Water!!! It is estimated that 75% of Americans are dehydrated. Even though people are aware of their bodies need for water they are still falling short of the daily amount needed to function at optimum health. So many of our daily physical complaints (headaches, dehydration, joint stiffness to name a few) could be solved with simply increasing our water intake. We should be consuming ½ of our body weight in ounces of water each day. Our bodies are 60% water, our muscles 75% water and our brains are 85% water. Nothing can replace the benefits of water. Many times when people become weak or tired they run for food when a glass of water is all their body really needs!
  2. Eat whole, real foods. What does that mean? It means to consume single, or as close to single ingredient foods as possible. Choose foods that have not been altered from their original state. Foods that have not been processed or had chemicals added to them. Eating fresh and as close to the ground as possible, assures your food has not been radically changed. I like to use this simple rule of thumb, when checking ingredient labels stop focusing on the calories, fat grams and sodium content and start looking to the list of ingredients. Keep it to the lowest number possible, 5 ingredients or less is ideal!
  3. Eat more veggies and fruits. Eating these single, ingredient foods will give you great energy, and are critical for good health. They are low in calories, but loaded with vitamins, minerals and fiber. A combination that pays off, big time in long- term health. They are easy to find in their whole food state and are readily available. So next time you find yourself looking for a snack, grab a hand full of snow peas or an apple instead. You will feel great and look great snacking this way!
  4. Get moving!!! If you want to look and feel your best and keep disease at bay master the top 3 tips then get your body moving! Movement has so many great benefits for looking great and feeling even better. Just 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week will provide your body benefits that last a lifetime!
