Make a difference

In a dream half a century ago, Emilie Sasko saw herself creating a place that would offer help, compassion and comfort for her neighbors during the final chapter of their lives.  The Titusville nurse and mother of 12 drew on her faith, family and her friends while inspiring others to join her in the all-volunteer Hospice of St. Francis, the second hospice in Florida.

Volunteering with St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care, can give a much needed break to a caregiver and help a person face end-of-live challenges. There are many ways you can touch the lives of those in need. Holding a hand, giving a smile and showing compassion for a fellow human being can uplift your spirits, as well as theirs. Singing, sewing, reading aloud or just listening with a compassionate ear is all it takes to brighten the day of someone facing difficult times.

Today, nearly 100 volunteers continue at the heart of St. Francis Reflections, just as they did during Emilie Sasko's day.  Volunteers support the mission of "uplifting lives, uplifting each and uplifting our community."

As a volunteer, you will be thoroughly trained and prepared for hospice work. You will learn about the roles of volunteers and how you can help, based on your skills and interests.
