Hideaway Spa Owner Shares Success

“Creating an upper Manhattan, 1920s boutique spa vibe with affordable prices in Melbourne has always been my dream,” said Shannon Justice, owner and master esthetician at The Hideaway Spa. “We provide a relaxing retreat — a ‘hideaway’ from the rigors of daily life — and a place where clients can breathe deep, feel beautiful and be truly pampered one on one.”

While there is no shortage of nail and hair salons in Brevard County, the environment in a boutique spa is unique.

“Our clients are by appointment only — they aren’t a number on a sign-in sheet. Our clients truly become our friends… we get to know about their lives, their desires, their families, and most importantly, the best ways to rejuvenate them when they need it.”

The Hideaway Spa opened October 13, 2019. Justice also owns the one-room Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio in Melbourne Square Mall and saw The Hideaway Spa as an opportunity to expand her staff’s services in a unique, more personal environment.

Justice not only has a passion for making women feel beautiful, however.

“After being in business for seven years, I felt it was important to pass on my knowledge and experience to the girls I work with. I want to help each of them establish their own businesses, too,” she said. “Today, the spa has five women that are also incorporated! They manage their own clients, taxes and budget to make ends meet and be successful. It’s a great way to share your success with others.”

Justice moved to Melbourne in 1988 to acquire a bachelor of science in marine biology from Florida Tech. She later met and married the love of her life. They have two children.

And while her plan was to return to the Marine Research industry, “God took me down a different path and I am blessed. I know I am exactly where I’m supposed to be,” Justice said.

The Hideaway Spa, along with so many other local small businesses, was impacted by the mandate to shut down services for five weeks during the pandemic. But thankfully, the spa survived the quarantine and has reopened its doors.

“From a sanitation standpoint, we’ve always gone far beyond what was required of us,” noted Justice. “Now, we are also following the additional guidelines of our Board of Cosmetology in order to keep ourselves and our clients safe at all times.

“In this time of social distancing, we have mastered the art of providing a sterile way to maintain human touch. A safe yet warm, caring touch is what we all need right now,” she added. “We are extremely happy to provide just that.”

In her spare time, Justice enjoys being active in her church, sweating with friends at CrossFit Rise Above and spends time with her family and friends outdoors.
