A Year Full of Renewal
In welcoming a new year full of innovative ideas, new beginnings, and new opportunities, we like to look back on 2021, which was a time filled with renewal. The Melbourne Regional Chamber has welcomed new partners and new faces to its staff over the last year, as well as rebranded committees. One such committee, Engage Young Professionals, now goes by the name Space Coast Young Professionals.
Space Coast Young Professionals is a group of young professionals, ages 20-40, who are also partners of the Melbourne Regional Chamber. They offer opportunities for members to network, interact and enhance their own professional development. They are dedicated to helping young professionals develop into Brevard County's future leaders.
Every quarter, Space Coast Young Professionals hosts a networking event to give back to the community by fundraising for local nonprofits. This past December, SCYP held its ugly sweater holiday happy hour at Hell ‘N Blazes, to help give families with children ages 12 and younger a merry Christmas. After a fantastic night of networking and donating to a great cause, $7,500 was raised, with all proceeds benefiting The Salvation Army and Gifts From the Heart Christmas Shop.
It was an honor to witness SYCP break its fundraising goal while watching our partners unite and celebrate this holiday season. We are slowly coming back despite all the setbacks we endured during the pandemic. This past year has proved how despite the setbacks provided by the pandemic, our tight-knit and supportive business community has worked hard to see a brighter future for Brevard. More than anything, we are excited to see where Space Coast Young Professionals and other chamber committees take us next at their upcoming events this year.
2021 has been a year full of many changes and renewals. But at the end of the day, it has brought our community closer and united our partners. As we embark upon another year, we invite you to explore the many great charitable organizations in our community and to get involved with one or more.
