On Friday, Feb. 17, Melbourne Regional Chamber partners, friends, board members, elected officials and past chairs gathered for the 2023 Impact Awards and Board Installation where we celebrated our shining stars in the community and installed our new board of directors.

This year’s theme was “Symphony of Stars,” chosen by 2023 Board Chair Deb Harmon, BRPH because music makes a perfect metaphor for how our differences can enrich and excite us. But also, music makes a perfect metaphor for how we can work together toward common goals.

According to Deb Harmon, “When we sing or play together from the same sheet of music, when we welcome and grow the members of our diverse ensemble, we represent the Chamber and our community with a more powerful sound, a more harmonious melody, and a more inspiring composition where every singer and every player contributes to the success of the performance.”

Music was a key element to this event, and we heard from the best of the best on the Space Coast. For the cocktail reception, we welcomed guests with Char Good on the electric violin. Following, we heard the Eau Gallie High School orchestra and Brevard Symphony Orchestra as they played our guests into the ballroom and provided dinner entertainment. For the after-party, Carl Lewis on Sax entertained our guests with his smooth jazz notes.

This year, retired Judge David Dugan had the honor of swearing in our board of directors for their 2023 term of service. Following the board installation, we recognized our shining stars in the following categories.

  • 2022 Business of the Year recipient, Call One Inc.
  • 2022 Community Excellence of the Year recipient, Progressive Cleaning
  • 2022 Corporate Impact of the year recipient, Embraer
  • 2022 Space Coast Young Professional, Clinton Hatcher, CareerSource Brevard
  • 2022 Nadene Cavaliere Ambassador of the Year, Alan Bernstein, HR Office Savers
  • 2022 William R. “Bill’ Ellis Legacy Award recipient, retired Judge David Dugan

This year, we were honored to present the Nadene Cavaliere Ambassador of the Year award, which has been renamed in honor of our dear friend Nadene Cavaliere who was tragically taken from us much too soon as a victim of domestic violence.

If you knew Nadene, you know how kind and humble she was and that she made it her goal to always welcome and engage new partners with the chamber.

The Melbourne Regional Chamber would not be the same without the stars in the community. We thank everyone for their contributions toward our mission of connecting businesses and building community on Florida’s Space Coast. As we reflect on our chair, Deb Harmon’s theme for the year, “Symphony of Stars,” we encourage you to stand out in the community.
