Full-Fun Ahead: Summer Camp Offers Multi-Layered Enrichment

Each year, Brevard After School hosts summer camp in various elementary schools. Coordinators and activity leaders develop themes to engage students with a variety of hands-on activities including STEAM, arts & crafts, in-house field trips, water days, field days and so much more! Hosting camp in schools and settings that children are already familiar with provides them an extra layer of familiarity and comfort.

Our themes have included stories and sciencing, under the sea and carnival days. This year’s theme is “Around the World in 40 Days.” This summer, a new place will be explored each week, starting with Antarctica, then with Australia, Hawaii, Italy, China, Mexico, Egypt, and ending with Spain. The campers will learn about the culture, people, landmarks, and environment. Students experience an array of fun activities and new experiences within the themes.

Summer camp experiences are viewed as a valuable resource for children. Our summer camps are a unique venue for growth, allowing kids to become independent and self-confident, while socializing and making new friends, all the while learning new skills through fun, engaging hands-on activities.

Through simple teachable moments, encouraging participation in team-building games, and engaging the campers in exploring our world and its various cultures, camp activity leaders will support and encourage students to build a sense of community, try new skills, and build interests and resiliency skills.

The Brevard After School activity leaders encourage children to be themselves, to try new things, and to participate. We understand that no two children are alike and foster a sense of belonging among campers. As a team, we encourage strong communication skills, and model positive behaviors and kindness.

Summer camp not only supports the child but also the family. We provide families with a safe, engaging environment for their child when the days are long and there is no school to break them up. Families can relax and enjoy their summer knowing they have a safe, affordable, and fun indoor place to send their children during the long, hot days of summer.

Safety first

To ensure a safe environment for campers, our programs will continue to follow Center for Disease Control and Department of Children and Families' recommendations and regulations. Staff will continually disinfect common areas and toys. Students will continue to follow BPS guidelines for safety, outlined in the reopening plan.

This year, Brevard summer camps will be held at eight schools, however, any Brevard Public School student grades rising kindergarten through sixth grade can participate.
