My Facial Girl Empowers Glowing Clients With Skin Education

The name of Christy Giovannini’s business sums up who she is to her clients: My Facial Girl. But by providing education and a spa-like experience beyond basic services, she’s so much more.

Giovannini, an esthetician with more than 15 years experience making clients look and feel beautiful, worked in an Orlando dermatologist’s office for over 10 years before moving to Brevard in 2017. Here, she worked alongside local dermatologist Dr. Anita Saluja for two additional years before deciding to make the move to open her own skin care business, My Facial Girl.

When she opened, Giovannini’s mission was to provide quality, relaxation and skincare education to every guest. Each new client starts his or her journey with a thorough consultation. Giovannini asks questions about the client's daily habits and products, trying to better understand each person's unique concerns. She then comes up with a treatment plan tailored to the individual and his or her goals.

“My favorite part of my job is seeing each client go through the process,” Giovannini said. “To have someone come in, to look at their skin and hear their concerns. To put them on a plan and then see their excitement when they come in the next time and their skin is looking good, and they are feeling better. You can see their confidence growing.”

My Facial Girl started in January of 2019 with just one treatment room inside a salon. Working on her own, Giovannini  was free to utilize her years of education and experience to create individualized treatment plans for each client. Working for herself also gave her the flexibility she was looking for as the mother of a teenage son.

Despite the uncertainty of the past two years, Giovannini has been able to grow her business. People continued to look to My Facial Girl for self-care throughout the pandemic. In December 2021, My Facial Girl expanded to a larger location in Satellite Beach. And Giovannini recently hired an additional esthetician, Ciara Bernard, to keep up with her expanding client list.

Bernard was drawn to a career in skin care after fighting her own battle with acne. She worked as an intern for Giovannini while she attended school, observing, taking notes and soaking in as much knowledge as she could.

“My fight with acne really inspired me to help others with their skin care routines,” Bernard said. “I really love helping people and watching their skin journeys as their skin gets better.”

The team at My Facial Girl wants each and every client to have the complete facial experience — to get deep relaxation, as well as the benefits of corrective skincare and education. Giovannini and Bernard offer a variety of services, from customized facials to more advanced skin treatments such as microneedling, dermaplaning, and chemical peels. They also do lash lifts, lash tinting, and brow shaping. No matter the service, educating the client is always a priority.

“I like to make each facial experience a memorable one,” Giovannini said. “But I also provide information for the client to take home to help in their daily lives. When we teach clients tips they can use at home, we are empowering them. When we touch our clients' lives, we are taking them on a journey that far exceeds a steam and a scrub.”

Mary Mitchell has been a client of Giovannini since she started her private practice three years ago. The treatment plan Giovannini put together has helped her to feel more confident in her own skin.

“My scarring has gotten a lot better,” Mitchell said. “(Giovannini) has been targeting my dark spots and the microneedling treatments have helped reduce my wrinkles. I don’t need makeup or Botox anymore.”

Taking care of your skin is important at all stages of life. Another longtime client, Millie Ross, recently introduced her 16-year-old twins, Adam and Annabelle, to My Facial Girl. Giovannini not only gives the twins facials, but teaches them what food and lifestyle choices may be affecting the skin.

“I see the results with Christy, both with my kids’ skin and my own,” Ross said. “Your skin is an organ, if you don’t continue to clean your face and do what she does then small problems can turn into big problems. Christy gives the kids a program that isn’t too complicated. She knows a teenager isn’t going to do 10 steps. And she always uses positive talk with them, and she is very encouraging, which is important.”

The level of knowledge and experience gives clients comfort.

“She will help you find the best treatment plan to achieve your goals,” Mitchell said. “But she educates and guides without being pushy.”

Giovannini strives to create a comfortable environment for her clients and prides herself on her customized, caring and honest approach.

“I love every aspect of my appointments at My Facial Girl and I refer a lot of people to her,” Mitchell said. “When I go to Christy, I know I will get a great, comprehensive facial, but I also get a spa-like experience. That spa/medical combination is unique.”
