Strategies to Reimagine Your Business

Teaching and learning are at the core of who I am. For as long as I can remember, I have been chatty and inquisitive. Always wanting to understand the why in everything. Looking for the next opportunity or creative idea fills my soul with excitement.

COVID has undoubtedly shaken up all of us and changed the way we think about our businesses processes and systems. We have had time to analyze, add or eliminate strategies, we have made pivots that we never thought we would have to, and many of us are reinventing or reimagining the way we do business.

We are thinking beyond boundaries, and I do believe the circumstances of COVID have created an opportunity for most of us to reimagine our roles in the business community.

My experience has shown time and again that attracting new customers, retaining existing customers, inconsistencies in cash flow, staffing, brand messaging and creating an awareness of products and services are the main entrepreneurial pain points that must be dealt with over and over, regardless of industry.

What if I shared one strategy with you that could double your revenue without increasing your staff or expenses? How about five such strategies. They are simple — but not necessarily easy — ways to reimagine your business.

  1. Develop an ideal customer profile and needs analysis. Identifying your top customers, their buying behaviors, expectations and engagement styles so that your messaging can be targeted to the right people.
  2. Reinvent your service value proposition. Look at your products and services from the perspective of your ideal customer. What sets you apart and makes you memorable? Are you delivering what your customers want or need in a timely and relevant manner? Can processes or systems be eliminated, automated, or streamlined?
  3. Get clear on your brand messaging. It is not uncommon for a business to refresh their brand and messaging. Your brand should evolve along with your business. It is important to deliver the right messaging to the right people at the right time via the right channels. Cohesiveness at all touch points is key.
  4. Revitalize your staff. Get creative. Be inclusive and engage them. Share your vision and paint them into the picture. They need to not only understand the value they provide, but they need to know you value them and their role in your business.
  5. Adopt a mission matching strategy for growth, and manage the expectations of staff and customers. Learn what drives and motivates their behaviors. Align your products and services to meet their needs and wants. Connect the dots for them.

Albert Einstein said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
