Turn up the Volume of Your Health

Spring has sprung and that means a sense of renewal is in the air.

It’s also about the time when those new goals and intentions we set back in January begin to subside or completely disappear — maybe because we are busy with spring break plans, kid’s events, hectic work projects and other seasonal stressors. It all leads to yet another push of the pause button.

Most people have only one or two times each year where they feel the calendar is wide open for self-care. This includes ample time for fitness, and for clean and well-planned eating habits and self-improvement.

The rest of the calendar is cluttered with holidays, vacations, work deadlines, family events, kids games, stress-inducing obligations, unexpected events and various crises. All of which take precedence over the very things that are designed to give you more health, energy and time — your fitness, strength, nutrition and rejuvenation.

I hear it every day: “Now is just not a good time.”

Which leaves the finger constantly on the pause button. So your progress never really gets a shot at taking off.

We are coming up on one of those seasons. The fervent excitement of the resolution season  where so many vow to make this year different is waning. It’s giving way to the season of “there just isn’t time” or “other things are just more important right now.”

But we know how that always works out.

In 2022, we’re taking a different approach. We’re keeping our hands off the pause button and learning to use the volume dial instead. The dial approach means that we no longer ascribe to all or nothing. But instead to always something.

It is rare that we have perfect weeks. But it should also be rare that a full week goes by without some attention to meal planning. Some execution of strength- and endurance-based activity. And some time spent working on the foundation of mindset and self-awareness.

It starts with identity. A clear and concise understanding of who it is you are becoming. This leads to the attributes and core values it will take to live by in order to achieve this outcome.

And lastly, accountability — daily internal and external forms of accountability. We simply achieve more and go further when others are watching.

I do monthly free webinars on these topics and help others set a specific plan into motion. Feel free to contact me if you need support in sustaining your process and help keeping your finger off of the pause button.

Stay well and of strong mind and body.
