TITUSVILLE, FL – The American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens (AFP&CC), headquartered at the American Police Hall of Fame facility in Titusville, FL, today announced it has received a grant for $20,000 from Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc.

Through the grant, AFP&CC will provide scholarships to the children of fallen officers and grief counseling to survivor family members. Motorola Solutions Foundation awards grants each year to organizations, such as AFP&CC, which support and advance public safety programs and technology and engineering education initiatives.

“This is such a gift to our survivor families, and a huge vote of confidence in our survivor programs,” said Lori Shepherd, Director of the Police Family Survivors Fund, which administers the AFP&CC family support programs. “Motorola is a real force for good in the law enforcement community. For them to take an interest in our programs is very rewarding and encouraging. We can’t wait to award these funds to deserving family survivors. 100% of the money will be distributed to the families of the fallen.”

AFP& CC supports over 13,000 family survivors nationwide, in all 50 states, with scholarship and summer camp funds, emergency funding, grief counseling reimbursement, birthday and holiday gifts to the children of fallen officers and Mother’s & Father’s Day gifts to the spouses and parents of fallen officers, among other initiatives. AFP&CC is also a supporting organization of the American Police Hall of Fame. To become a citizen supporter of AFP& CC, go to: http://www.afp-cc.org/membership.html

This year, Motorola Solutions Foundation grants will support programs that help more than 3 million students, teachers, first responders and community members around the globe. There is a specific focus on providing grants to programs that impact underrepresented populations, including females, minorities, people with disabilities, veterans and others.

“The Motorola Solutions Foundation is honored to and privileged to support the work of The American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens,” said Matt Blakely, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. “We believe in organizations that are fostering innovation, building partnerships and driving change, and we’re proud to be part of the positive impact they’re making in communities.”
