Dussich Dance Studio to host National Dance Day event

After celebrating its 60th anniversary recital last month, Dussich Dance Studio is inviting local residents to the studio – located at 125 Imperial St. – to participate in its first ever National Dance Day event.

From 3-5 p.m. Saturday, July 28, which is National Dance Day, the studio will offer a free class for participants of all ages to learn this year’s National Dance Day routine. Toward the end of the hour-long class, the studio will record the group performing the routine and post the video to its social media pages. Anyone who wishes to learn the routine ahead of time may view it at https://youtu.be/aC9MidgVF98.

National Dance Day was launched in 2010 by the Dizzy Feet Foundation as a celebration of dance “that encourages Americans of all ages to incorporate dance into their lives,” as noted onhttp://dizzyfeetfoundation.org.

Because the studio welcomes people of all ages and abilities, including people with special needs, those who dance for exercise and those want to become professional dancers, the studio’s owners and management thought the event was a good fit for its inclusive approach to dance.

“For 60 years, our studio has provided go-to training for people who like to dance for fun and recreational purposes as well as others who seek more out of their training in order to prepare them to pursue dance as their career,” said General Manager Anna Spangler. “We believe dance can be for anyone from age 3 to 93, and that people of all shapes, sizes and abilities can enjoy the benefits and joy of dancing,” Mrs. Spangler added. “On National Dance Day, we look forward to seeing many of our current students but we also hope to meet potential new students who want to learn the routine or check out our studio.”

After the National Dance Day routine has been recorded, the studio will remain open for all to continue dancing, meet the teachers or register for classes. Attendees who register at the event can take advantage of the studio’s July discount on fall registration. While it’s usually $40 for one dancer and $30 for any additional dancers from the same family, anyone who registers in July can take 10 percent off their registration fee for the 2018-2019 dance year, which will begin Aug. 20th.
