Tenth annual Mayors Breakfast
16 Mayors Answer Burning Questions
Getting a few elected officials in one room at the same time can be a scheduling nightmare. Getting 16 to commit is a major accomplishment and will happen when the Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce presents its 10th annual Mayors Breakfast on May 10, at the Crowne Plaza Melbourne-Oceanfront, 2605 N. Highway A1A in Melbourne.

Bringing the diverse group together recognizes the need to work together to ensure that Brevard County’s future is secure, both socially and economically. Each Mayor will provide an update on his or her city or town, along with a look toward the future, recognizing that each is interdependent on the others.

As a community known for unity in achieving its goals, Brevard County has set its sights on becoming a region known as much for its thriving manufacturing, technology and space industries, as it is for its beautiful beaches and unique attractions. Education and our environment also are priorities, ensuring we have a skilled workforce and a great place for families to call “home.”

Brevard has made great strides since the end of the space shuttle program and witnessed tremendous growth in both businesses and population. The economic, space and tourism development commissions, in cooperation with major industries, employers and attractions have diversified our economy so that we are not reliant on any one major sector.

Beginning with networking and a buffet breakfast at 7:30 a.m., the Mayors Breakfast will feature 16 mayors providing an update on their respective city or town, followed by Q&A. The event ends at 10:30 a.m.

"This breakfast is always a fun and informative morning,” said Nancy Peltonen, President/CEO of the Greater Palm Bay Chamber. "This is a wonderful opportunity to hear what is happening throughout Brevard County all at one time.”

Each mayor will have the floor, describing the challenges he or she faced this year, the successes they accomplished, and future development plans. The discussion will shed light on the incredible growth Brevard County is experiencing and how this may impact business decision and plans.

This year’s guest emcee is Sheriff Wayne Ivey. Sheriff Ivey has a unique perspective on the entire county.  The cost is $28 in advance for chamber members, $35 for non-members and at the door (if seats are available).  Last year, the event sold out.
