Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is proud to announce Shadow & Light, art by Jill Heveron in September. Heveron is the 2nd Place Winner of the 2018 100% Pure Florida statewide competition.

Jillane Heveron, a 20 year resident of Florida, acquired a love of art and architecture during high school in her hometown of Syracuse, New York. Her lifelong love of creativity has culminated in an intense study of painting over the past decade. Beginning in watercolor she evolved through acrylics and finally settled into oils as her chosen media. She has studied under several local instructors while honing her skills. Heveron currently finds her passion in plein air painting.

Jill selects subjects that appeal to her. These include botanicals, florals, architectural structures, and scenes from a recent trip to Italy. Heveron says of her work “I really enjoy trying a variety of subjects as they all offer a challenge. That’s how you grow as an artist. To me art is always a work in progress. Just because a painting is signed and framed does not mean it is ever finished, in the artist’s eye.”

Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is located in the Eau Gallie Arts District. All events are open and free to the public. For further information call 321-259-8261.

BACK TO SCHOOL WITH BEACHFLY BREWING COMPANY
BeachFly Brewing Company presents a series of beer-related
classes throughout the fall for novice to craft beer connoisseur

BeachFly Brewing Company presented the first of its fall series of Beer Education classes, Beer School 101: Beer Basics last week. Brew Dude Will Brant, BeachFlys brewer, and Chief of Everything Zach Featherstone, BeachFlys owner, filled eager students minds with a wide range of information, such as what ingredients go into beer, how it is made, and what makes the different styles of beer unique. The students actively participated in the presentation by seeing, smelling, and tasting flight-sized samples of seven of BeachFlys beers, as each were explained by Will and Zach. By the end of the class, students had a greater understanding of what makes an Ale different from a Lager, and what gives Canova Sunrise Red its rich, amber color.
The next class in the series is a Beer and Food Pairing Class on Monday, September 16 at the Brewery. Participants will learn the principles behind pairing BeachFlys beer with various foods to create that perfect balance of harmonious tastes. During the class, BeachFlys Chefs will prepare several food and beer combinations, demonstrating how different types of beers pair with foods. Students will get hands on experience with beer and food pairings so they can take that knowledge and apply it to their favorite meals at home.
Additional classes planned are Beer School 201: The Basics of Brewing (The Process) on September 30, which will outline the basics of brewing, explain the differences between commercial and homebrewing processes and how altering the process might change the product; Beer School 301: Detecting Off Flavors in Beer on October 14, where participants will learn what particular odors and off-flavors mean in beers, including a hands-on test with blind samples; Beer School 401: Ingredients Showcase where students will learn how and why changing one ingredient in the beer affects the overall taste of the end product; and Incorporating Beer into your Food Recipes where participants will learn how to use different styles of beer in cooking to achieve the ultimate in flavor from favorite brews and which styles work better with particular foods. The series will end with an Advanced Brew Course that includes an actual production day in the brewery.
For more information, dates, times, and tickets check BeachFly Brewing Companys website (BeachFlyBrewing.com) and Facebook page, or contact Zach Featherstone at 321-610-3653 or zach@beachflybrewing.com.

Jaymee Weinreich: Artist of the Month, Studios of Cocoa Beach

Time: All Day Event
Location: Studios of Cocoa Beach
Address: 165 Minuteman Causeway

Category: Arts / Exhibits
The Studios of Cocoa Beach introduces its September Artist of the Month, Jaymee Paddock Weinreich. Jaymee is a talented, award winning artist as well as an outstanding arts educator. Her colorful oil and acrylic paintings often have tropical themes reflecting the time she spent in Puerto Rico. She also works in pencil and pastels, makes jewelry, has illustrated several books, and teaches at the Studios. A six week Acrylic class begins October 9. She also offers fun Sip n Paint sessions ( October 4 and 18) where non-artists socialize and create a painting under her excellent guidance.

Jaymee came to Cocoa Beach in 1956 when her father began working on space guidance systems and her mother taught at Freedom 7, Roosevelt Jr High and Cocoa Beach High. Jaymee graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida International University and later moved to Puerto Rico where she taught and then became a full time artist Paintings, murals, custom signs, and commercial designs, including some 3-sculpture; were created in her studio located in the rainforest mountains of Ceiba, in Eastern Puerto Rico. While there, she wrote an arts column for El Playero, a Brevard County Hispanic newspaper. She created art for tourists visiting the El Yunque National Rainforest, owned a gallery and was a member of several other galleries.

In September 2014, Weinreich returned to Florida to reconnect to her childhood
home and continue her journey as an artist and a promoter of art in general. She was a member of the Art Gallery of Viera until 2016 when she became one of the founding members of the Studios of Cocoa Beach. She is a Board member and curates their bi-monthly exhibits as well as teaching. When not working at the Studios she explores jewelry techniques, illustrates books and does commission such as a recent mother-daughter mermaid painting. When asked, What next? She exclaims, All I can do is keep creating. It is what I like to do and what I have worked on for so long. It is about passion and dedication.

A limited edition giclee print of Jaymees painting Leatherbacks will be the prize in the Studios monthly giveaway. To enter this free drawing, visit the Studios any day in September. Her work can be viewed during the Studios regular hours and at Jaymees website www.weinreichstudio.com
