Laboratory Technician Machinist

Job Description:

About the Laboratory Technician Machinist: Candidate will be primarily responsible fabrication activities to create high quality parts and components for systems from both metal and non-metal materials (primarily plastics) utilizing machine shop tools. Candidate will also act as a lab technician and maintain laboratory rig configurations. Candidate will also assist engineers and scientists as needed from time-to-time and will participate in integration and test efforts. Candidate will report to the Mechanical Engineering Lead.

- Assists Mechanical Engineering Lead in preparing and executing assigned tasks
- Fabricates parts and components, and assembles and tests systems
- Ensures lab safety procedures are followed
- Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of R & D group’s area
- Performs data entry as needed
- Works within a collaborative team that may require background research and, literature evaluation, and market assessments

Education and/or Experience for a Laboratory Technician Machinist:
- High School Diploma
- 2 years of machine shop experience, including CAM equipment and shop tools (CNC, milling, lathe, drill press, etc.)
- Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings to produce high-quality, in-tolerance prototypes and products
- Ability to research and recommend parts and tools
- Ability to follow directions and complete projects with attention to detail
- Willingness to work as needed in laboratories and maintain and document lab equipment.
- Basic communication and analytical skills

Preferences:
- Associates Degree or Trade School Certification
- Proficient knowledge of Excel
- Experience in a research environment
