VOTE NOW for Family Promise of Brevard: 30 seconds prevents 30 families from falling into homelessness!

Rockledge, Fl.  Sept. 18, 2020 Family Promise of Brevard needs your help by voting for them to receive a $25,000 State Farm® Neighborhood Assist Grant to help improve our community. Starting September 23 at 12:00am ET, U.S. residents who are 18 and older with a valid email address can vote for them at www.votefamilypromise.com

Family Promise of Brevard has until October 2 at 11:59pm ET to rally votes and anyone voting is allowed up to 10 votes per day. On November 4, the top 40 vote-receiving causes will be announced at www.neighborhoodassist.com and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to each of the affiliated nonprofits.

Right now in Brevard County, there are thousands of children, who have no stable place to call home due to the widening gap between a family’s income and the cost of affordable housing. They sleep in cars, motels, or doubled up with others, worrying about their safety and where their next meal will come from. Prior to COVID-19, 40% of families were one paycheck away from being homeless – that’s one unexpected car repair or medical bill. These numbers are increasing dramatically due to COVID-19 and the resulting unemployment.

The best time to stop homelessness is BEFORE it happens. Besides the emotional and educational toll of homelessness on families, the average cost to keep a child housed is $260 whereas the cost to rehouse a family after they’ve become homeless is over $5,000. The goal of our Homeless Prevention Program is to coordinate a single point of entry to keep families stably housed and bypass shelter altogether. In collaboration with other local agencies, this program helps change the future of at-risk families forever.

Please help us prevent family homelessness in Brevard County by voting for our grant here www.votefamilypromise.com.

“We are truly humbled to have been selected as a finalist out of thousands of entries nationwide! It really validates our work on the front line during the pandemic. We’re so thankful to State Farm for donating $1 million dollars to support causes across the country, and for creating the mechanism to give Brevard County neighbors a very tangible way to help our neighbors right now!” said Tara Pagliarini, Executive Director of Family Promise of Brevard.
