SUPERHERO RUN BENEFITS LOCAL ABUSED CHILDREN

“Holy Race-Time, Batman!” Friends of Children of Brevard (Friends) invites runners and walkers of all ages to sign up for the 5K Run and/or 1 mile Fun Run event on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at The Avenue Viera. The 11th Annual Superhero Run, sponsored by Friends, benefits local children who are abused, abandoned, and/or neglected.

All participants will receive a race shirt, finisher medal, and goodie bag. Join in the fun while supporting a great cause. Dress up as your favorite superhero to dash through the racecourse at your speed, watch costumed mascots race in the Mascot Sprint, and cheer on the youngsters in the free Kids’ Run! Following the races, there will be a DJ spinning tunes, complimentary food and drinks, family-friendly activities, and an awards ceremony for individual and team race winners and costume contest winners.

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month. In addition to race activities, you can help Friends
by making a monetary donation.

Kathy Heron, Superhero Run Chairperson, said, "Child abuse is much more common than most people realize. One in seven children has experienced abuse or neglect in the past year. Brevard County has over 1,000 children— innocent victims, who need our support. I know it is cliche to say, 'not all heroes wear capes,' but we can’t do this important work without our local community's support."
