Walk on Water Equine Assisted Therapy Receives 2018 Best of Merritt Island Award

Walk on Water has been selected for the 2018 Best of Merritt Island Award in the Non-Profit Organization category by the Merritt Island Award Program.

Each year, the Merritt Island Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Merritt Island area a great place to live, work and play.

Walk on Water is a nonprofit Therapeutic Riding program for children and adults with special needs and riding lessons for typical individuals. Parents can watch from the 60’x24’ pavilion as their family members ride in a 120’x60’ indoor arena. In addition, they offer occupational, behavioral and pet therapy which can be covered by Staywell insurance, Gardiner scholarship and Families Exploring Down Syndrome.   At risk teens and teens from around the county serve as volunteers learning employable skills under capable adults which count towards Bright Futures scholarships and earn free riding opportunities. Veterans also receive free riding to thank them for their service! Walk on Water is also the official training site for Brevard County Special Olympics Equestrian team which won gold at state last year.

Walk on Water is located at 3330 Perkinson Lane, Merritt Island, 32953 and their phone is 321-412-8057. Please schedule a tour of this beautiful ranch, volunteer among our 100 a month to feed, groom horses or side walk with a child or take a riding lesson on our new Clydesdale, Clyde! A new driving program will start in March and Drama/Horse camp begins June 3 with sign up beginning in January. A big Thank You to all who support WOW, Jess Parrish Foundation, Community Foundation of Brevard, Space Coast Health Foundation, Brevard Cultural Alliance, Shema, Spade and Trowel, CVS, Toyota Foundation, Grumman, Margaret Binz Foundation and the many restaurants who feed our friends.
