City of Cape Canaveral Receives Diamond Award

The City of Cape Canaveral is excited to announce it has received the East Central Florida
Regional Planning Council (ECFRPC) Diamond Award for Health and Equity. This award
honors the region’s most iconic urban planning and development projects, promoting
smart growth practices highlighting equity, healthy neighborhoods, conservation, and
economic vitality.

The ECFRPC was established in 1962 as an area-wide association of governments. This
Council is represented by 32 Council Members and skilled staff that provide technical
assistance to governments and organizations within the region of 8 counties and 78 towns
and cities, including the City of Cape Canaveral. As part of ECFRPC’s 60 th anniversary, the
Diamond Awards were re-instituted to highlight the best in urban planning, sustainability
programs, and resiliency projects from across our region.

The City of Cape Canaveral is honored to receive this prestigious award for our Community
Center, as it highlights the ongoing effort to improve the health and well-being of our
residents while promoting the resilient mindset embodied by our City and its ability to be
future-ready.
