New Hotels Open on Florida’s Space Coast

What do hotel brands Hampton Inn, Home2Suites, Hyatt Place, Springhill Suites and Extended Stay have in common?  They have all opened up properties on the Space Coast in 2020.  In fact, Home2Suites has opened up 3 properties, Hyatt Place has opened 2, and Extended Stay has opened one with another opening up later in the year.  Hampton Inn and Springhill Suites have each opened 1 property.  That’s 9 new properties representing 1,044 new hotel rooms in 2020, bringing the total hotel rooms in Brevard County up to 10,275 rooms which is an 11.3% increase!

Why are these great brands investing in the Space Coast in a particularly difficult year for the travel industry?  They know that the Space Coast has so many great amenities for families and is the perfect place to have a safe, friendly getaway with your loved ones.  And, the space program has begun to heat up with human space flight having returned in May of this year and the Mars Rover Perseverance launch taking place in July.  There are many more significant milestones in the space program to come and families can be a part of it.

“The addition of new hotel inventory is always an exciting prospect for a community, but to add 9 properties in 1 year is unprecedented for us,” said Peter Cranis, Executive Director of the Space Coast Office of Tourism.  “It is a real testament to the resilience of our economy, even in the face of COVID.  These new properties will provide safe, family-oriented options to stay up and down the Space Coast.  We think we have exactly what families want right now which is wide-open spaces and plenty of beach for all.”  And now, there’s plenty of hotel rooms to choose from as well.

Interestingly, all 9 new properties are suite hotels.  This class of properties typically have a living room and a bedroom.  Some that are categorized as extended stay also have a kitchen.  They range from a low of 87 rooms up to 151 rooms.

These hotels include amenities that visitors are familiar with, but include some unique offerings. For example, SpringHill Suites Cape Canaveral has a fire pit, Home2 Suites by Hilton Melbourne Viera has an indoor eco-friendly saltwater pool, and Hyatt Place Titusville Kennedy Space Center offers special “Launch View” rooms. Many of these hotels are also pet-friendly.

On your next vacation, why not stay at one of these new properties, located close to our top attractions, and see for yourself why these brands chose the Space Coast. We have Space For You here.
