MEET: MI-BOX Offers Convenience in the form of Mobile Storage
Jennifer Ernst, who owns MI-BOX Moving & Mobile Storage with husband, John, fields calls daily from customers who, despite having varied back stories, all need one thing: secure, convenient storage. She is happy to oblige.
She takes care of people who are:
- Homeowners moving, renovating or redecorating.
- Staging their house for sale and need to declutter.
- Dealing with damage from storm, flood or fire and need a place to keep their belongings until their homes are repaired.
- Businesspeople with offices overflowing with file boxes, office furniture or extra inventory.
- Special event planners who need tables, signage and more temporarily shuttled to a site from their headquarters.
- Construction industry pros who need a secure place to store their tools.
- Retailers with overstock.
- Starting a new business.
The Ernsts launched their portable storage unit service in 2018, drawn to the MI-BOX national brand for its benefits. With 30 years of experience in the distribution field, John is well versed in the precision scheduling necessary in the business. Jennifer was drawn to the service aspect of the opportunity.
“It’s a concept that makes sense and helps so many people,” she said.
MI-BOX will bring the customer’s choice of one or more 8-foot, 16-foot or 20-foot mobile containers to the site, whether residential or commercial.
“We’ve had customers with 10 containers,” Jennifer said.
Customers are free to load and unload at leisure. If the containers are used for a move within the state of Florida, MI-BOX will transport containers to the new site. Customers also can utilize the company’s storage facility in Melbourne. The company serves Central Florida from Daytona to West Palm Beach.
Weekly leases and competitive rates allow customers to extend the lease if they need.
“Most people think jobs are going to be done much sooner than is reality,” Jennifer said.
How does MI-BOX compare with PODS®? Very favorably. While most PODS® units are made with wooden walls covered in thin metal, MI-BOX units utilize sturdy composite wall panels. Most PODS® containers use timber framing inside for extra strength, but unfortunately, wood can hold moisture.
MI-BOX’s patented Level Lift System is the most efficient way to deliver containers, which are always picked up and dropped off levelly and gently placed on any surface in any weather, so there is no damage to the contents or to the surface or landscaping around the container. MI-BOX drivers use a wireless remote control unit to gently place or pick up containers.
“We have a YouTube video of a container being moved with a glass of wine inside it and the wine never spills,” Jennifer said.
Five-star reviews attest to the service. MI-BOX delivered a container to Linda R. the day after Hurricane Ian flooded her house.
“They kept in touch with me via phone and text,” the homeowner said. “The storage box was clean and sturdy and was perfect for my temp need to store my stuff until I could sort through it.”
Cocoa Beach resident Carol F. faced an unexpected move with little planning.
“I was seriously stressing about the whole ordeal of packing and moving,” she said. “I called Mi-Box and spoke to Jenny. She was so helpful and incredibly calming. She talked me through all my many questions and figured out what size storage box we would need. We set up a delivery date. On the morning the box was to arrive , my place was a mess with boxes and furniture to move. John, the company owner, showed up exactly on time and was so incredibly helpful. He staged the box in the perfect spot in my driveway while still making room for my cars.
“The lift they use is different than other portable storage where they usually just roll the box off the back of a truck. John just picked the box up and placed it in my driveway without scratching any of my driveway pavers… This made my move so much easier.”
