Green Gables Open House: Green Gables is hosting Open House on Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. CDC guidelines will be in place. Even though Green Gables at Historic Riverview Village, Inc. has submitted to be considered for a Florida matching grant to own the home, we must continue to work toward repairing, stabilizing, and then restoring this historical Queen Anne style treasure for the South Brevard area. Green Gables is one of only three Queen Anne style homes in South Brevard, so preserving this architecture and restoring the home as well as the Wells family legacy is important. William and Nora Wells played a key role in the development of early Melbourne. Their vision and generosity gifted the area with Wells Park and the first auditorium, assistance with building and establishing the first library, organizing and funding the first high school classes, to name a few, all of which have been enjoyed by several generations. Location: Studios of Cocoa Beach
Address: 165 Minutemen Causeway, Cocoa Beach F
Price: free

The Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach announces its September Artist of the Month, Beverly Morgan from Viera. Her unique, hand crafted Jewelry is on display at this gallery which features the work of 20 local artists in a variety of mediums

Beverly has always been a creative person. Her journey began when she taught Home Economics to high school students including textiles, tailoring, and pattern design. All that fabric got her interested in quilting and led her to own a quilt shop in Door County, Wisconsin. Designing inspired her to take semester long courses in drawing and painting.

Having a collection of gemstones peaked an interest in jewelry so she studied silversmithing at the College of DuPage in Illinois and the William Holland School of Lapidary Arts in Georgia. Here in Brevard she continues to learn via the Brevard Rock and Gem Club. Not limited to silver, she also works with copper and cold connections. Her designs use stones, gems, copper, silver, whatever strikes her fancy as she explores a variety of materials and techniques.
Beverly says All of this was a way to enrich my life, creatively, emotionally and socially. One of her pieces, a pair of silk cocoon earrings will be the prize in the Studios monthly giveaway. . You can enter in person or click on the QR code displayed in the Studios window. At this time, the Studios of Cocoa Beach is open for limited hours, Friday 3:30 to 8pm, Saturday 11 am to 8 pm and by appointment. RAVEL Pavane pour une infante défunte
MOZART Flute Concerto in G Major, K. 313
BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 6 in F Major “Pastoral”

Beethoven depicted his love of nature in his programmatic 6th symphony, originally titled “Pastoral Symphony, or Recollections of Country Life.” Though he worked on both his 5th and 6th symphonies at the same time, they could not be more different. Ravel’s work, which translates literally to Pavane for a Dead Princess, does not refer to death, but to music a young princess may have enjoyed dancing to. When you hear Mozart’s G Major flute concerto, it’s hard to believe that Mozart disliked the flute and finished the work under protest. It was part of a commission from a wealthy amateur flutist, Ferdinand de Jean which required Mozart to compose three flute concertos and several other short pieces. Mozart never finished the commission and lost out on a great deal of money. It is an elegant work, requiring great virtuosity from the soloist.

Single tickets go on sale on Tuesday, September 8.
