MEET: Virtuous Senior Living

Stacey Clark started working in the senior living industry when she was just 15 years old. Throughout her career, Clark, a registered nurse, has worked in a variety of roles including assisted living director, executive director, and vice president of operations. But no matter her role, what has always come through is her passion for ensuring the highest quality of life for both the senior residents and the staff who care for them.

In November of 2022, Clark opened her own consulting and management business, Virtuous Senior Living. The company is guided by its motto, “Doing the right thing at all times.”

“I stepped out and started my own business because I was actively looking for a way to help more than one facility at a time,” Clark said. “I go into communities that have a certain challenge. I assess their situation and then put a plan in place to help them operate better, which in turn helps our community as a whole.”

The COVID and post-COVID years have been difficult for the senior living industry. Facilities were forced to absorb a lot of cost. Today, businesses are looking for ways to recover that won’t lead to raising rates for residents or compromising the level of care. That is where Clark and Virtuous Senior Living come in. The goal is always to help businesses find a way to operate more efficiently without affecting the satisfaction of the residents or staff.

“My value is in being able to come in and quickly assess what the challenges are, being able to help them put a plan in place that is unique to them and their footprint, and helping them recover in the market,” Clark said. “I spend time getting to know their staff and their culture. I become invested in what is important to both the owner and the people working there.”

Jim Hands, owner and manager of Palm Cottages Assisted Living and Memory Care in Rockledge, was one of Virtuous Senior Living’s first clients. Hands believes Clark is uniquely qualified to help an industry that is struggling.

“She is an excellent resource for an industry that is under siege,” Hands said. ”At the end of the day, you have to deliver on the promise of care. What Stacey does is she connects the dots and helps the community really deliver. This business is so operating intensive. You have residents, families, regulators, third party providers... She really has a lot of road experience that is priceless.”

Clark is passionate about providing quality care to the seniors in our community. Outside of work hours, she often acts as an informal coach, helping seniors find the best possible place for themselves or family members.

“I help my Mom’s friends, friends of friends,” Clark said. “ I just get to know their story and I will find the best suitable place that meets their budget and fits what is most important to them. I just enjoy being able to help people.”

Clark’s long-term goal is to become a part owner of her own senior living facility. But in the meantime, Virtuous Senior Living gives her the opportunity to ensure seniors in Brevard get the best possible care.

“We need good places for people to live and when I was working in one building, I could only influence that one,” Clark said. “But through being able to consult with others, I get the opportunity to help as many as possible.”
