Reimagining Downtown Melbourne

Reimagining Downtown Melbourne

There’s nothing better than a rocket launch at sunrise to get people thinking about possibilities, opportunities, and bright futures.

For most, living on the Space Coast inspires us to keep looking up, imagining, and striving for that next level of achievement. It’s our Space Coast vibe. Creativity leads to innovation, and then innovation becomes inspiration for others. It’s cyclical, continuous, and a bit addictive once you get a taste for it.

Downtown Melbourne has proudly captured that vibe and is inspired to carry it on. Last year, the Melbourne Main Street organization of volunteers, business owners, and staff went to the next level of reimagining the downtown area and putting that creativity into motion. We focused on what Downtown Melbourne could become as both a local gem and a tourist destination if everyone would pull the rope in the same direction for the greater good.

Those efforts were rewarded. In February, new branding for Downtown Melbourne was unveiled. Its all-inclusive clean design, bright colors, and promotion of DTMB as a place to shop, dine, play, and explore is bringing us all together with an eye for the future.

We have a “start anew” look to the district’s marketing and promotions that, like the district itself, is on its way to becoming brighter, cleaner, and fresher than anything we have seen before in Downtown Melbourne. Our website is refreshed and redesigned and caters not only to our traditional visitor demographics, but also to the new, economic driving force of Generation Z.

If you haven’t taken a walk through DTMB this Spring, now is a great time to do it. Business owners are both leading the way and being challenged amongst themselves to reimagine how they attract customers to their individual businesses while also making the overall DTMB experience better for everyone.

For some, that might mean cleaning up or making visual improvements to their properties. For others, it may mean staying open later or updating the types of goods and products that they’re selling.

It won’t be long before their efforts are matched with other Downtown beautification projects like new banner displays and other impactful ideas. Improvements to lighting, signage, sidewalks, and crosswalks are also just around the corner.

We all know that the county is looking up. The rest of the Space Coast should know that Downtown Melbourne will be a solid driver toward the future. DTMB will continue to invest, refresh, and grow in advance of the changes that we can all see coming to Brevard.

The downtown area has always been one of the main drivers for tourism and entertainment in the county and is committed to becoming even more so in the years ahead.
