RV There Yet? Rolls Through Brevard

“Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon?” This simple question sparked a friendship that blossomed into the new Discovery Channel show, “RV There Yet?”

In 2011, Kevin McCabe and his wife, Patrice, met Dave and Karla Burch, who asked the question at a fishing convention. The couples soon after traveled to the landmark together. Now, the quartet travel the country in their RVs for the show premiering Jan. 1 at 8 a.m. on Discovery.

Kevin grew up in Cocoa Beach, which shaped his journey into TV. Surrounded by incredible fishing spots on the Space Coast and influenced by the high-energy programming of early MTV, he created Addictive Fishing Television with his childhood friend and fishing champion Capt. Blair Wiggins. Many episodes featured the unique saltwater fishing locations along the Space Coast for this Fox Sun Sports and Discovery show.

In the 23 years of working with Addictive Fishing, McCabe’s got used to RV living.

“In 2005, we turned a 38-foot RV into a traveling billboard, theater, editing suite, film studio, crew accommodations, tackle shop and food truck for the fishing show for the next five years,” Patrice said. “That’s how we fell in love with RVing.”

These things all came together for McCabe’s new passion project. Speaking with a broadcast broker, Kevin blurted out, “How would you like to see an RV show?” It was in that moment “RV There Yet?” was born and later picked up by Discovery.

“I've spent the past 20 years producing Addictive Fishing Television and inspiring people to explore the Space Coast and my hometown of Cocoa Beach,” Kevin said. “Now my passion is to inspire people to see the rest of America. There's nothing better than exploring this beautiful country in an RV.”

RV There Yet? takes viewers on road trips to explore America’s National Parks, featuring fun detours along the way. The show features hacks to common RV challenges, cooking tips, best routes, and more.

Returning to the Space Coast so Kevin could show new viewers and RVers the gems of the area was a priority.

The episode, airing Jan. 29 at 8 a.m., showcases Port Canaveral, including Jetty Park and Exploration Tower with an interview from Port Director and CEO Captain Murray; shrimping at Wild Ocean with Sherri McCoy; dinner at Seafood Atlantic; Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex with astronaut Commander Bruce Melnick; a ride with Twister Airboats at Lone Cabbage; and a visit to Merritt Island National Wildlife, guided by Ranger Kim King-Wrenn.

“We hope this will entice RVers, a new audience of travelers, and other productions to come experience the Space Coast,” said Space Coast Office of Tourism Executive Director Peter Cranis.
