Boating Safety Class

One of the Coast Guard Auxiliary's cornerstone missions is to educate the public on recreational boating safety. Our program for 2019 features the About Boating Safely (ABS) course taught by experienced instructors. All graduates receive the Florida Boating Safety Education I.D. Card which is required for all boaters born after January 1, 1988.

Our classes are offered on the third Saturday of each month except December. There is a $40 fee for the course with discounts offered for persons attending as family or friends.

The Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands Program will be holding this year's Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20th, at the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary located at 444 Columbia Blvd., in Titusville.

During this free event, guests will have the opportunity to see Florida Wildlife, guest presentations on conservation,explore environmental exhibits, participate in a guided walk, listen to live music, and much more. Earth Day Festival will also feature activities for youth, including face painting, crafts, and hands-on activities.

Local Motion exhibit

The Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach has challenged eight guest artists to create works celebrating our area: the beaches, area landmarks, and perspectives on local life.. On Friday March 22, 2019 from 6 to 9pm there will be a reception opening the Local Motion exhibit. The exhibit includes paintings, photography and sculpture.

Participating artists include Cristina de Guillot, Ray Asiala, Michael Anthony dAlbertis
Rene Griffith, Sally Auman, Terri McCutchan, Shelley Jean, Lynda Kodwyck, and
Tina Powers. The exhibit will by judged by Judy McNamara, past president of the Sebastian Art Club.

The evening includes wine and food bites and a free drawing for a piece of pottery by Studios member Lisa Shepperd. Show awards will be announced.. The reception is an opportunity to talk to the exhibit artists and also meet many of the Studio resident artists who present paintings, photography, fiber art, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture and more.

Just in time for Easter, the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach, is offering a special daytime Sip n Paint party. Join local artist and experienced teacher Jaymee Weinreich from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday April 20 as she guides you through a complete acrylic painting featuring Benjamin Bunny . Bring your friends and your favorite beverage and go home with a complete work of art.

No previous experience is necessary. Well supply paint and canvas, you bring snacks and drinks and prepare for a fun experience. $35 includes all materials. Registration is required. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Sebastian Inlet State Park will hold the next show in the Night Sounds concert series on Saturday, April 20, 2019.

Hosted by the Friends of Sebastian Inlet State Park, the concert will showcase St. John’s Wood.
St. Johns Wood is a five-piece band that transports you back to the music of the 1960’s British
invasion. This is the music that helped define a generation; it includes The Beatles, The Rolling
Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Zombies, The Animals, David Bowie, Eric Clapton and many
more. Enjoy the music that is etched into the golden history of Roll ‘n’ Roll.

The concert will take place at the pavilions on Coconut Point, located on the south side of
Sebastian Inlet. The concert is free with regular park entry fees.

April 22 is Earth Day and what better way to celebrate than raising money for one of the Earth's more beleaguered animals, the sea turtle?

The Sea Turtle Preservation Society is partnering with BJ's Brewhouse on April 22 for an evening of food and liquid refreshments, with 20 percent of food and soft beverage sales between 4 and 10 pm designated for STPS. Join us for a delicious way to raise funds and spend time with friends and sea turtle lovers.

"We are excited to partner with BJs Brewhouse & Restaurant to allow the community to celebrate Earth Day while enjoying dinner and supporting sea turtles," said Noelle Villanueva, Director of Events & Fundraising for the society.
