Marty Ward's TAG4Change Mission Lives On
In the heart of Uganda, a movement burgeons, transforming lives and crafting futures — all sparked by a single book, “Get Clear, Get Confident, Get Going,” by Brevard County’s own Marty Ward. This isn’t merely a tale of a book crossing oceans; it’s the story of a mission reshaping destinies.
Marty Ward, a familiar face in Brevard County, was a beacon of joy and a champion for the marginalized. Her struggle with bullying turned into a triumphant crusade against it, exemplifying the power of turning pain into purpose. Her battle with cancer ended in 2018, yet her legacy is as vibrant as ever.
The Confidence Builds Success Academy, Inc. 501c3 foundation, born from Marty’s vision, transcended boundaries to Wampologoma, Uganda. Marty’s indomitable spirit aspired to nurture innate values and gifts in every child and adult, proving that each life is a precious gem. As a result of a chance encounter of her book with a pastor in a remote village in central Uganda, the TAG4Change movement was born.
TAG4Change is more than an election of action; it’s a testament to Marty’s love and wisdom, which quelled violence and sowed seeds of kindness and respect. The foundation’s work reached a crescendo with initiatives that spanned education, shelter, and life’s essentials, giving hope to those who needed it most. Orphans, families, and neighbors all benefited from Marty’s inspiration, perspiration, and dedication. Bringing her exceptional perspective to remote villages on a different continent was just the beginning. Little did anyone know that her dreams would meet with a disruption.
In an ugly twist of fate, the board of directors dissolved the foundation shortly after Marty’s passing. Yet, the dream refused to fade. Having connected with Marty from my home base in Clearwater, Florida, I refused to abandon my own efforts in support of the children I sponsored. Alongside heart-centered philanthropists, I took the helm in my own way, ensuring Marty’s dream didn’t just live on but thrived. And it has greatly.
2023 marked a year of strategic expansion, with plans to infuse sustainability and prosperity across seven Ugandan communities. This groundbreaking initiative marries education with leadership training, healthcare, agriculture, and economic empowerment, promising a brighter future for many. The new collaborators bring specialties of electricity, sanitation, irrigation, farming, fresh water, construction, philanthropy, leadership, natural medicine, and most of all, love and hope.
As we forge ahead, the spirit of collaboration ignites a beacon of progress, with the partners laying the groundwork for monumental change. We’re not just planning; we’re igniting action that will reverberate through generations. I will serve as the tip of the spear as I spend the months of December and January drafting the logistical plan and meeting with funders on the ground in Africa with a first-hand view of all that matters.
